たん所は長所 — A T-Shirt That Turns Weakness Into Strength
The phrase 「たん所は長所」 on this T-shirt is both Japanese wordplay and a visual transformation. In Japanese, tansho (短所) means a weakness, shortcoming or flaw; chōsho (長所) means a strength or positive quality.

Here, the first part of tansho is deliberately written in hiragana as 「たん」. The shapes of 「た」 (ta) and 「ん」 (n) are recombined and layered until they resemble the kanji 「長」, the first character in 長所. The lettering itself turns “weakness” into “strength” before your eyes.
How we use our weaknesses, and the perspective from which we see them, can change the future. This message grew from my own experience as a person with a disability: facing qualities I once saw as shortcomings, learning to turn them into strengths, and using them to make my own way through life.
Weaknesses, insecurities and failures do not have to be hidden. This T-shirt carries the belief that they can become tools that help us move forward.
